Violet is a Neutral…
This is a bold statement, I realize! But hear me out on how you can mix violet/fuschia/purple into your life with ease. French women love the varying shades of purple and wear them in so many ways. I put together a little mini series of videos styling one of my favorite colors and how you can incorporate it into your wardrobe with olives and black/tan specifically. In these photos, I highlight different ways to use violet, from a summer dress you can winterize, a bold outerwear piece, and detailing on shoes and belts.
A vignette of olive and violet pieces to mix and match, both casual and more dressy.
Details above of some of my Sezane Artemis belts, olive trousers, black Saint Laurent booties (found at TJMaxx in Dallas for a steal!) and essential denim jacket from RRL many years ago.
I am styling various violet sweaters and my Sezane Jim coat with olive pieces like a military style jacket, a sleeveless dress you can also double as a duster vest, and trousers. Both colors work in harmony and sometimes one is the pop of color, sometimes the other is. Additionally, neither can be the pop and denim, black or tan become the outlier to the visual palette.
The below images are a few more wearing my violet options out in the “wild.”
And here are two images below that highlight wearing pops of violet with my coat and belt to a palette of a black and navy mix.
In another twist - here are some options to mix violet in with an unexpected color - mustard! I previously never really wore things in this color range but this particular Sèzane sweater spoke to me and I love styling it in unexpected ways. This is a fairly safe option with black and grey as the base and I use a random mustard/violet scarf I have to create this outfit (a few weeks ago; wearing color in the winter is absolutely OK!)
So, I hope you are inspired to wear violet as a base, a pop or everywhere in between! Leave a comment below and say hello.
