Top Eight: Solid Sandwiches

One of my favorite things to eat in general is a good sandwich! I love many different kinds with various ingredients and find them onerous to make at home so seeking quality places here to eat sûr place or emporter is always important. Here is my round-up (in no particular order) as of late to some of my top sandwiches in the city. Note that this list doesn’t include burgers, as that is a whole other list I will need to compile!

#1 - Binôme Boulangerie

I am outing my favorite boulangerie on here, finally! They have really amazing everything, to be honest; I am choosing to highlight the special chicken club sandwich that has my husband and I hooked. It almost always sells out at the lunch hour so you better be quick! On thick pain de mie, it is chunky chicken, hard boiled egg, mayonnaise-y goodness!

#2 - Ten Belles

Although there is one by me in the 6th, I actually went to the one in the 10th one day after a hair appointment for a “toastie” as my French/British friend said. They have usually two flavors of sandwich a day and you just get what you get! I had a lovely bacon warm toastie with a bit of sauce and melty cheese - it really was so satisfying. The coffee is also really nice and there’s a great vibe here!

#3 - Kiss

Y’all, this fried chicken sandwich was LEGIT. I saw a fellow IG friend @nazknowz recommended this new-ish place in the 9th. Her tip was much appreciated because wow, what a great sandwich with balance, actual zing, and crunch! Got this emporter and it wasn’t the least bit soggy on arrival back to my flat as the focaccia bun was nice and toasted. Can confirm this is a stellar option for lunch!

#4 - Cosi

This is another great recommendation from a friend, Claudine Hemingway of @claudinebleublonderouge - after always passing this little shop, I mentioned it to her one day and she really sold it! I ordered the ‘Shroomtang Clan on her expert advice and it was STELLAR. Usually an only-veggie sandwich isn’t satisfying enough to me, but this really hit the spot. Arugula, walnuts, red onions, crème fraîche, and mushrooms with a lemon squeeze really worked perfectly on house made flat bread focaccia. The line can get super long around lunch but definitely worth the wait!

#5 - Beige Café Paris

Organically found this brand new spot on the way to run some errands and was elated to actually discover something. In the internet world, everything gets spoiled pretty quick and it seems impossible to simply walk by a place and have never seen it on every influencer’s feed. The owner was absolutely lovely and was working on the to-go space directly next door that wasn’t open yet. I went over the top and got the loaded salmon and avocado bagel open-faced sandwich and it was delicious. Ratio was excellent and there was a lot of both of these expensive toppings layered on cream cheese - I bet all of you know what its like to order an extra or an upcharge ingredient and there’s barely any! So annoying! This was not the case here and this large sandwich you could easily split. Cannot wait to return and try more things! Please go support them on the right bank next time you are in Paris.

#6 - Strate

This is on a favorite food street in Paris that seems to only be known by locals as almost all the restaurants cater to the office crowd and are generally only open during the week. A true innovation of a croissandwich is here on round, flatter discs that serve as the bread. Hearty and hold up to the ingredients, I ordered their four different options to try and bring back to my visiting family. Veggie, salmon, pesto and a raclette - honestly, all very good, but pesto was the common favorite! I quartered them for us all and it was a great picnic at home.

#7 - Schwartz’s Hot Dog

A new location of this Paris staple opened just two doors down from Cosi (#4 above) and I needed to try it ASAP - they do loaded, proper American style hot dogs but I opted for the pastrami club. Solid, great ratios of ingredients and bread was fantastic. Anyone seeing a pattern here with the bread…. The last photo of the sandwich against my flowers looked like a face and it made me laugh, so into the post it goes!

#8 - Novettino

This amazing Italian sandwich shop has beautifully done focaccia loaded sandwiches in three locations around Paris. A mom friend Trisha of @mamadoeseurope posted about loving these, so I hopped on the metro and visited the one in the 9th (coincidentally across from Kiss) on a mission for a family sized sandwich feast. I chose 4 different ones to bring home and review - the number 8 (as Tricia had loved!) ended up being my favorite - truffle ricotta; need I say more?

Loads of excellent sandwiches for your eating pleasure on your next trip! All of these were eaten to-go and this a part of Parisian culture I enjoy. Because real estate is so expensive here, food places capitalize on nearby green spaces so one can enjoy the city and all the beauty it has to offer with your take-away meal. Then the business doesn’t have to have staff and resources for a big indoor dining area! Have you had an amazing sandwich in Paris? Let me know in the comments!
