Styling: Colored Pants!
I love a colored bottom moment in an outfit; it can be really tastefully done and you will not look like a clown! I see Parisian women consistently wearing various colored pants/skirts in the blue, green, purple and red family. They always look chic and put together in the best way and I am showcasing a little bit of that here in my favorite shade - the bright blue. This shade is arguably a bit more “safe” to style because you can just treat it like denim. I am wearing the Sézane Hendley pant in “bleu fort” three different ways.
I paused here in one of my favorite little side streets to document this outfit - black fancy knit with my coat and black Gucci flats I have had since 2008. This is a no-brainer styling option as black is easy, chic, and gives the star power to the color of the easy-fitting pants. We have had a very unseasonably colder spring here so far and it only began to warm up here recently. Photos taken by the lovely Claudine Hemingway after a much needed museum visit!
Photos above taken by my eldest child - this look utilizes warm tones to accentuate the blue. Tan belt, shoes, and the gold stripe in this Sèzane Gaspard knit really tie everything together and help the blue really POP.
This final look is accentuated in a beautiful teal with my favorite navy blazer. Photos taken by the talented Jordan of @myparisianlens. Blues are really chic when mixed and this look is no exception. Another way to wear these tones to suit your personal style might be only the shoes or belt in the teal, and a more neutral scarf. Maybe only the teal scarf and grey or tan belt/shoes. Additionally, the blazer could be light grey to match the underpinning or the underpinning navy to match the blazer. Do not be hesitant to try different combinations of these tones!
All of these looks are actual outfits I wore on different days to run errands, pick up my children, and ride public transport. I purchased the flowers in the last look for my home to enjoy and I read the paper I am carrying. I want people to understand that my styling is real, it is for everyday, and not just for the “internet.” Wearing my clothes and shopping my own closet makes me happy and it should for you too!
