Party Outfit Ideas: Winter Edition
Literal last minute outfit ideas for tonight, or the rest of your winter evening events where it gets dark super early and possibly very cold. You may not even want to go out, especially if you are stressing about what to wear! I love the French ladies approach to this - find your favorite black piece or “base” and go from there. I created eight outfits from things I already own and might even wear during the day/to work and tweaked for a more evening look.
First, I took a stretchy short sleeved knit dress I wear in warmer seasons and paired it with warm, fleece lined sheer look tights. I added a wide black belt and heels - I just changed it up with a chunky cream sweater for a more cozy look for possible patio situations or a dressier cropped jacket (thrifted by my lovely friend Morgan and I snagged it from her!).
Another great option is to start with your favorite jeans or black cigarette pant - these you might have already been wearing that day and need to quickly get dressed for the evening!

On the left, I used a short sleeve sweater my favorite blue and layered with a thinner, knit cotton, modern-look black jacket. This outfit could have easily been your work outfit on a Friday, and you had very minimal time to change, if any, before heading to a last minute happy hour or birthday dinner. Add a fancier bag and jewelry and you are ready to go!
The middle photo is the same back pant with a fancier belt, clutch wallet and a beautiful cobalt knit.
And on the right is my favorite straight leg jean, short sleeve knit from left photo, and fancier cropped jacket from above. I added pointed toe black flats to give it lady-like, classic vibes.
Finally, I did three different looks with the base of a metallic skirt I also wear in the warmer seasons with the same fleece lined tights (a must have!). Between the three options, I changed it up with colorful belts (see previous blog post here on violet!), a dark gray blazer with leather trim and the same cobalt fancy knit sweater from above. I also added a black wrap sweater top that I wrapped the belt around the waist of the skirt to create its’ own unique look. There are three different footwear options with this skirt - flat ankle boots, cobalt suede flats, and heels.
So, just like the French women that inspire me everyday - make it uncomplicated and work with what you have. Mix gold and silver jewelry, don’t overthink the overall look and remember you can definitely wear color in the winter! Bonnes fêtes, everyone!
